How can I remember what is allowed?
There are several options to help you.  One, you can print the Uniform Policy.  This is the detailed policy adopted by the school board.  Two, shop at a location portraying the DCS Clothesline logo on their door (available February 2009).  These retailers have a trained Uniform Policy staff member that can assist you with your questions and concerns about what to buy.  Three, print out the Pocket Guide to keep in your wallet for use when you go shopping.  Oh, and of course...you can always call The Clothesline (334.793.1397 ext. 400) or email us.

My child has brought home fliers from local businesses.  Are these the only places we can purchase uniforms from and does DCS receive money to promote these businesses? J. W.
No, to both questions.  In an effort to help spread the word about the uniform code and to help parents know where uniforms can be found (so that they have many options for fitting their child), fliers from approved vendors were sent home on occasion.  Parents do not have to purchase from "approved" vendors, they are free to shop where they choose.  Vendor "approval" is simply a way for parents to be assured that the retailer has attended a training session on the DCS code, received fabric swatches for color matching, and received in-depth information about logo use, etc.  These retailers did not pay to attend the training or to submit fliers. 
A note in regards to "does DCS receive money to promote":  There are several companies that give a portion of sales back to individual schools.  Participation in these programs is at the discretion of each school's principal.
 
Is it going to cost more to buy uniforms?
No. Research shows that parents spend less on clothing for students when uniforms are used.  In Dothan it is possible to purchase a uniform outfit of a shirt, pants and socks for under $30.  Of course, there are outfits that cost much more out there if parents just like to spend money!

Will the dress code only be enforced during normal school hours 8am-3pm, or will it be enforced during school related functions like football, basketball etc., ect. Thanks! S.S.
Students are expected to wear their uniforms for the normal school day and any field trips, etc. that take place during the normal (8 a.m. to 3 p.m.) day.  Events that start after school (such as ball games, etc.) do not require uniform wear.

Will there be special accommodations made for special needs students? K.J.
Parents of special needs students are encouraged to address these concerns at their annual IEP meetings with the school administration and special area teacher.
 
Which schools are in the DHS and NHS clusters? Jay
NHS cluster = Kelly Springs, Girard Elem, Girard Middle, Montana, Carver, Faine, Landmark, Northview
DHS cluster = Honeysuckle, Heard, Selma St., Cloverdale, Grandview, Hidden Lake, Beverlye, Dothan High
The only exception is Highlands Elem. which is in both clusters.  Therefore Highlands students can wear colors from both clusters.

Is it possible for some of the schools to host a used uniform yard sale type thing..  I purchased my daughters upcoming clothes at a private school sale and most were almost new! I got an entire wardrobe forn $25.00! (4 pants, 1 skort, 2 jumpers, and 4 tops!). J.M.
